Gallus Gael - The Games Re-enactors

Our living history re-enactors have a collective 60 years of experience!   It all started in Scotland with a 21 year old who had a love of Scottish History.

He joined a re-enactment group and learned to wield a basket hilt broadsword, becoming one of the best swordsmen in the country.  A few years later he met his future wife (at a re-enactment!) and together they gradually introduced their five children to the art. (East Mountain Ranch)

In 2009 they immigrated to 'the colonies' and continued with their love of history by joining

'The Scots Society of Colchester'.

In 2014 the society introduced Living history to their resume and now perform shows regularly.

If you are interested in history & would love to try your hand with a sword, or just want to dress up and act out a part then contact us here

We are now recruiting for the 'Colchester Highland Games & Gathering'  re-enactment.

Come fight alongside some of Scotlands greatest swordsmen as members of Veritas Vincit (Scotland) make a special appearance at the Games in September 2017..

To Join

To join our group you must be at least 16 years of age or be accompanied by a parent or guardian who is also in the group.

We take safety very seriously as we do not wear any protective clothing and therefore children must be kept under strict supervision.

Skill Levels

Historical Re-enactment takes skill and practice in order to perform well.  It can also be a dangerous sport if  certain rules are not adhered to.

We will teach you not only the skills of swordsmanship and showmanship but safety as well.

When we feel you are safe to draw sword you will be given a part to play in the main display.

History Alive

You do not have to be a swordsman/woman to take part in our shows.  If you have an interest in history, enjoy dressing up and having fun, then come along and find out what it is all about.

We also give historical demonstrations on period clothing & interesting facts.
